“Junk Guns” are in the Eye of the Beholder
Learn About Guns on September 16th, 2008
I’ve previously discussed the racist history of junk gun laws; however this article is intended to point out the fact that “Junk Gun” is a subjective term, and is simply one more way for anti gun rights groups to erode the Second Amendment right to gun ownership. Banning inexpensive guns is not rationally related to [...]... -

John Lott on September 16th, 2008
Remember the media frenzy about the crime wave? Well, it turns out that all categories of violent and property crime fell last year. After rising for two straight years, the estimated number of violent crimes in the nation declined from the previous year’s total. The declining trend continued for property crimes, as those offenses were down for t... -

Sensibly Progressive on September 16th, 2008
I met a Federal felon today. One call to the BATFe could have sent him to jail. Just because he followed common sense logic for making a purchase, logic that would work with anything except guns. Thanks to the complexity of laws in this country you pretty much have to become a lawyer to own a gun and/or travel with a gun without running afoul of t... -
Philly Inquirer Shows Itself a Rag
Snowflakes in Hell on September 16th, 2008
Caleb points out this piece of garbage article in the Philadelphia Inquirer: It has been years since groups such as the Montana Militia, the Posse Comitatus and the Sagebrush Rebels, and individuals such as Terry Nichols and Ted Kaczynski have made us wonder why so many “angry white men” populated our rural regions. Maybe it’s bec... -

John Lott on September 16th, 2008
David's post can be read here. Here is how it starts:It's a widespread view, but true in only a narrow sense. People who say they are against teaching the theory of evolution are very likely to be Christian fundamentalists. But people who are against taking seriously the implications of evolution, strongly enough to want to attack those who disagr... -
Conspiracy to Destroy Preemption
Snowflakes in Hell on September 16th, 2008
Eight other mayors in Pennsylvania are planning their own local gun ordinances in contra to state law and the state constitution. Preemption is a bedrock gun rights principal, and we will fight tooth and nail to preserve it. A constitutional guarantee is meaningless if it can be infringed and questioned at will by local governments hell bent on... -
Initial meeting.
Cemetery's Gun Blob on September 16th, 2008
So I went to the initial New Jersey Citizens Defense League meeting tonight. At most, I think 30 people should up. Could have been more, but what impressed was the demographic. I think the majority of people were under 30, and came off as being truely interested in taking an active role. I really wish I brought a note pad so I could remember ... -

By Chad D. Baus The past decade as brought about several visible attempts by gun grabbers to masquerade as Second Amendment advocates. One of the more high-profile attempts was launched by Monster.com billionaire Andrew McKelvey, a former member of the Handgun Control, Inc. (HCI) board of directors. During his time at HCI, McKelvey became convince... -

Diary of an Evil Overlord: A Teaser
Armed Canadian on September 16th, 2008
They say Evil Overlords do more before 9am than most despotic but misguided rulers do in a week. It's a crock. I'm already in a foul mood. Barely out of the shower, enjoying the morning stock market manipulation reports as well as last evening's torture and seizure figures over tea and crumpets. They're off, way off. Either my approval r... -

John Lott on September 16th, 2008
Personally, I was kind of shocked by some of the edits that ABC News made in the interview (see here). If ABC had clearly announced at the beginning of the program, I wouldn't have minded, but they didn't make it clear to anyone. People should read the transcript themselves and make their own judgment how biased these edits were.... -

Pigeon Shooting Ban Up for Vote
Snowflakes in Hell on September 16th, 2008
The bill that would ban pigeon shooting is up for a vote in the PA house tomorrow. Now is the time to call and express your opposition. As someone who doesn’t do pigeon shooting, I still respect people’s right to do it. And let’s face it, pigeons are rats with wings. They can shoot as many of them as they want as far as I&... -

HOME IMPROVEMENTS
Home on the Range on September 16th, 2008
When I first purchased Home on the Range I was surprised the house had been on the market for a year and a half. The setting out in a country community was breathtaking, and the house and land it sat on more than reasonably priced. Then I walked in. Let's just say it needed some "updating". The decor was dark and Victorian, though there were a... -
Is New York in Play?
Snowflakes in Hell on September 16th, 2008
Obama is falling in the polls in New York State. I would imagine this latest financial crisis should help Obama’s numbers. We’ll have to see. Really, there’s no reason to vote Obama for economic reasons — he’ll ruin the economy with his tax and big government policies — but to be honest, McCain’s neve... -

Snowflakes in Hell on September 16th, 2008
As much as I would love to be able to attend this year’s Gun Blogger Rendezvous, I will not be able to. I went last year, and had a great time, and was hoping to get to go again this year. D.C. Council Revises District Gun Laws
Snowflakes in Hell on September 16th, 2008
No doubt this is an attempt to head off H.R.6691: On the most significant day of legislative activity since the Supreme Court struck down the city’s 32-year-old handgun ban in a landmark Second Amendment decision June 26, the council unanimously passed emergency legislation to end safe-storage requirements for firearms and to permit ownership... -

Cemetery's Gun Blob on September 16th, 2008
With the *smart gun* bill being based on unproven technology, and signed into law, I wonder about RFID technology with regards to firearms. Seems there’s already a bill. NJ Smart Guns……….
Cemetery's Gun Blob on September 16th, 2008
This idea of *Smart Guns* isn’t new to me, I’ve heard rumblings about them for numerous years. But only recently have I become aware of the NJ statute revolving smart guns. It seems that once they’re available, they’ll be the only type of handgun to be sold in NJ, or even transfered in. So much for all the antique hand... -

Quote of the Day
Snowflakes in Hell on September 16th, 2008
From Dave Hardy, quoting Mary Ester of the Brady Campaign: Seven years later, we still use [Handgun Control Inc.] on the outer envelope of our mailings because responses drop when we don’t. That tells me that most of Brady’s donors want to ban guns. Now that a handgun ban is off the table, how does the Brady Campaign propose to survive? ... -
