2nd Amendment Incorporation May Occur in the Nordyke v. Alamenda case

by LearnAboutGuns.com October 4, 2008 Learn About Guns

In the historic D.C. v. Heller case, the Supreme Court made clear that the federal government cannot infringe the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms for self defense and other traditional lawful purposes.  One of the issues not addressed, however, was the incorporation of the 2nd Amendment into the 14th Amendment. Information about [...]

Zealots abound

by Nicki October 4, 2008 The Liberty Zone

I hate zealots.  Religious nuts or any other extremists make my skin crawl.  It’s one thing to have a relationship with whatever deity you happen to worship. It’s quite another to actively work to impose that relationship on others, whether by government force or via good old fashioned bullying.  I thought that’s the kind of twisted zealotry we were fighting against when we took on the Taliban and the fundamentalist Islamist swine who killed thousands of our citizens.

I’m not thrilled with nimrods who use religious dogma to perpetuate hatred and infringe upon others’ rights.  It oogs me out to see fundamentalist fruitcakes try to ban books they find objectionable, ban television shows that don’t toe the religious line or try to force others to conform to their standards of dress or behavior.

And this just makes me angry.  Jewish people are supposed to be our allies against Islamist crazies.  Since when do they start acting like them?  Frankly, twisted shit like this is what makes organized religion so unpalatable to me.

In Israel’s ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, where the rule of law
sometimes takes a back seat to the rule of God, zealots are on a
campaign to stamp out behavior they consider unchaste. They hurl stones
at women for such “sins” as wearing a red blouse, and attack stores
selling devices that can access the Internet.

In recent weeks,
self-styled “modesty patrols” have been accused of breaking into the
apartment of a Jerusalem woman and beating her for allegedly consorting
with men. They have torched a store that sells MP4 players, fearing
devout Jews would use them to download pornography.

“These
breaches of purity and modesty endanger our community,” said
38-year-old Elchanan Blau, defending the bearded, black-robed zealots.
“If it takes fire to get them to stop, then so be it.”

And what, exactly, makes these zealots any different from their twisted Taliban counterparts?  How can we justify allying ourselves with demented animals who think that their faith entitles them to abuse others?  They throw rocks, attack women with pepper spray, spit on them, vandalize businesses that sell MP4 players and pay thugs to beat and threaten women for acts of brazenness such as wearing a red blouse or walking down a street with a man!

Can honor killings be far behind?

At the start of this week, I asked Derek to make the
database of armedpolitesociety.com
available to my designates for backing it up to other servers. He dragged his
feet but promised to make it available on Thursday. That didn’t happen.

When I called him, he said that he was busy. Asked when he
would make it available, he said: “I talked to a couple of moderators on
THR and I think it should be part of the whole settlement with THR. I won’t
release it.”

Derek is a thief. Feel free to make that known to the world.

I own armedpolitesociety.com
domain name, so I can move that forum. I would prefer to move it with the
current content intact. My lawyer will be in contact with his. In the meantime,
I would appreciate anyone with the ear of law enforcement would recommend
criminal charges on this matter, not just the already discussed charges
connected with THR hijacking.

Peter has more.

Armed Polite Society or APS is Oleg’s site.  Derek – aside from hosting it – had nothing to do with it.  He stole it as a way to blackmail Oleg into giving up the fight for THR.

If this is the case, then Mr. Zeanah’s arrogance can only be described
as breathtaking. Not content with stealing one forum, he’s now trying
to hold a second forum hostage, in the hope it can help him escape the
consequences of his criminal actions! As one member of APS commented:

This
last step of Derek’s was the proverbial last straw. I have refrained
from posting as I could not couch my reply in civil terms.

There
is no other way to describe Derek’s actions other than betrayal, and
pure theft. Driven by greed and a massive inferiority complex. I hope
you drag him into court and he gets thrown in the pit.

Given enough rope, he will hang himself. I see he has cornered the market on that twisted fiber substance.

I’ve also been trying to find out more about the financial situation at
THR. I’m informed that Mr. Zeanah claims that he’s borne the costs of
THR for a prolonged period, and cites this as grounds for his claim for
part- or co-ownership of the forum. However, as stated in earlier
posts, I was under the impression that any time money was needed, it
had been provided by staff and/or a public fund-raiser. No accounts were ever presented by Mr. Zeanah to support his claims: and no belated or ex post facto
accounting now submitted can be accepted as true and accurate. He’s had
almost six years to submit such accounts, and has never done so. After
his recent actions, any retrospective accounting will be immediately
suspect, as potentially “cooking the books”. I certainly won’t accept
it as valid or authentic grounds for any claim, and I doubt very much
whether others will (particularly the courts).

At this point Derek Zeanah has proven himself over and over again as a thief, a liar, an immoral scumbag of the worst sort – the type who would betray a friend to fulfill his childish needs.  This is a person SO intent on getting his own way, he would risk his reputation, his friendships, his business and, ultimately, his freedom to declare “victory.”  Like a bratty child, whose only narrow goal is to retain a toy he stole from another kid at any cost, he’ll lie, hit, lash out, scream and scratch, while the adults shake their heads at his behavior in quiet disdain, and other kids turn away so they don’t have to see the tantrum.

Like Peter, I sincerely hope he faces criminal action.  At this point, this reprehensible excuse for a human being doesn’t deserve any kind of consideration whatsoever.
