NRA must, this afternoon, alert its members to oppose Halligan, and, as they failed to do with Eric Holder, put senators on notice that a confirmation vote will be scored against them—especially the so-called “pro-gun Democrats” we’ve heard so much about. It would take NRA all of an hour and the cost of emailing their membership list to make this happen. [More]This afternoon's Gun Rights Examiner column has an assignment that will take you about as much time to complete as it will to enter a comment complaining about why it's no use.

An Innovative Approach
There is a provision in the Kingpin Act for “authorized” law enforcement and intelligence activities, however the only procedure by which an Operation Fast and Furious program could have been “authorized” under the Kingpin Act was by the U.S. attorney general requesting a waiver (known within the Treasury Department as a Specific License), prior to any such operation being undertaken. [More]Oh, that is good!
Kind of like the only way they could have gotten around ITAR provisions would have been if State had authorized it.
The Inability of "Authorized Journalists" to Let Go of a Delusion
Operation Fast and Furious — the “botched” gun-tracking program run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — did, in fact, deliberately allow some 2,000 high-powered weapons to be sold to Mexican drug cartel agents and then waltzed across the border and into the Mexican drug wars — just as Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa, who are leading the congressional investigations, have charged all along. [More]So if it did what it was designed to do, and that was to deliberately allow guns to walk--why would you still characterize it as a "'botched' gun trafficking operation"?

How many have died from DEA’s ‘Project Buckwalker’?
Hey, you can’t make an omelet without scrambling some eggs. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner commentary wonders if there is any criminal enterprise our federal overlords are not up to their necks in.
We Hold These Truths to Be Self-Evident
Bridgeton Police Chief Mark Ott is of the opinion that no matter what is done to stop them, criminals will always be able to gain possession of a gun if they really want it.No duh.
“Here’s one way to look at it. If criminals can import tons of illegal narcotics into the country they can import tons of foreign firearms,” he said. [More]

Anybody think you'll get this stuff from the "Authorized Journalists"?
UPDATE: Based on results, evidently so.
Project GunTALKER
Looks like the laryngitis that silenced my appearance last week is on the mend, so I'll be rejoining Armed American Radio with Mark Walters again tonight in the 10:00 pm Eastern segment to discuss Dianne Feinstein getting her gungrabbing claws on illegally-provided gun trace data as well as significant revelations from a newly-surfaced ATF memo.
The show starts at 8:00 pm Eastern/5:00 pm Pacific.

Why are El Paso residents ‘under the gun’ when peaceably addressing government?
This is what we can expect whenever and wherever regressive statist dictators with thug enforcers to back their edicts are in charge. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner commentary looks at "threat" management, "Only Ones"-style.

"Allegation"?
“I am so personally outraged by Senator Grassley’s falsehoods,” former Arizona U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke wrote in an email regarding the allegation that a weapon connected to the ATF operation was found at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. “It is one of the lowest acts I have ever seen in politics.” [More]We already knew Burke was a liar. Now we know Ryan J. Reilly is, too.
And check out the congregation of regressive trolls who comprise the bulk of the TPM Muckraker commenting audience. What a bunch of hateful, inconsequential assholes.
Holder’s Friday Night Dump
...Operation Fast and Furious, the flawed law enforcement initiative aimed at dismantling major arms trafficking networks on the Southwest border. [More]What a bunch of crap. The "Authorized Journalists" at the Associated Press are playing their part well.
But in the interests of justice, Justice is making "a rare exception" we are told.
Somebody break out the Glade...?
ATF memo describes operation designed to get guns to Mexico
“The most important observation of Styers is that the ATF end of this operation was by all law enforcement standards set up to fail,” Vanderboegh said in a phone conversation with this reporter moments ago. “Indeed, it seems Styers’ opinion was that this was designed to be a necessary fail. [More]This afternoon's Gun Rights Examiner tells the rest of the story, including: Proof of ICE involvement, details of agents ordered off surveillance while perps escape, and being ordered to trace unrecovered firearms for later matching up. Think of what that means.
This is big stuff, further proof of opportunities for "mere bloggers" to go where corporate media will not, and it's the only place where you can see the actual memo itself.

What are they prepared to do about it should someone ignore their stupid sign?
Or if there's no glass to tape it to?

Sheriff’s arrest shows need is for self control, not control of others
...Sullivan was a major proponent of citizen disarmament, the demand that law enforcement official like him—who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and whose department was a recipient of “war on drugs” largesse—should be the “only ones” society trusts as sound enough to keep and bear modern firearms. [More]This afternoon's Gun Rights Examiner commentary wonders why it is some people don't trust others.
Not really.
Showing Solidarity with the Workers of the World

An Informed Prediction?

My fear--and I understand I'm not alone--is that "White House Insider" is Ulsterman having a public Smeagol/Gollum conversation with himself. Perhaps that's unfair and I owe him an apology, but I just have no way to vet this, so if I post anything from his site, assume a Caveat Emptor attached.
There are benefits to anonymity. But ain't nothin' free. This is one of the costs. And yes, I acknowledge critics could say the same when Vanderboegh or I present information from anonymous sources, and can only point to our track record for any doubters.
It's a nice piece actually, and he does it well--he's a good writer. And what he paints seems plausible.
But I hesitate to use him as a source because of that suspicion, and if it comes out he's putting us on and we've been promoting him, the enemy will point out what dupes we were and use it to distract from everything we ever have said or will say.
NY gun show sting announcement full of sound and fury, signifying opportunity
But no matter—Schneiderman has a chance to gin up some media hysteria and get his name out there for current and future political utility. Bloomberg in Open Armed Rebellion Against Federal Government
I have my own army in the NYPD, which is the seventh biggest army in the world. [More]Oh really?
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress...keep Troops...in time of Peace...Assuming that also applies to cities within States, I call on the federal government to invade New York, disarm these unconstitutional troops and arrest their commander in chief.
And seeing as how this flies in the face of the supreme law of the land, the militia should be called out to put down this insurrection, as is our duty...
